OS 1224: Nature-busted Kingbuster and Saying Goodbye

So here’s something you don’t see (well, hear) this time of year: Capt. Kevin NOT fishing the Kingbuster! Why, you ask? Look no further than the weather report. GRRRRRRR. Mother Nature was an angry lady this week, and she let loose on everyone willing to dare the waves for the tournament. The guys talked about the heat, the storms and everything else this week…and as you would expect, had a whole lot of fun doing it.

On a much more serious and solemn note, everyone took some time to reflect on the passing Capt. Dennis Goldstein, a true icon of First Coast fishing. Rest in peace, brother.

Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Check out this high powered, 12” rechargeable fan from Hagan Ace Hardware! Jeff took it with him and the family to an outdoor restaurant last week and says it kept them all cool! Everyone wanted to know where he got it! You can get one today at your local Hagan Ace for $59.99

Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: There’s been a lot of sailfish caught this week near shore. When you see a sail come up behind your bait there’s a good chance he will knock it off with his bill. If need be… grab another rod and pitch a bait to him. Do not take the boat out of gear because the fish will then just swim right by you!

Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: Jeff’s Peel & Eats!!

Take one can of your favorite beer and a generous amount of Old Bay and bring to a raging boil in a pot with a tight lid. Add 1 pound of de-headed shrimp (that are at room temperature) close lid and stir or shake. Bring back to a boil then shake one last time and then strain. Add a little sprinkle of Old Bay to finish off. Peel and eat at it’s best!
