OS 1196: The Gift of GREAT Outdoors Stories

Capt. Kirk was feeling a bit under the weather, so he checked in from home while Capt. Kevin and Jeff held down the fort for this episode. The weather made the job easy – how beautiful can it get for all of us who love the outdoors?!?

Seems like Santa stopped by the First Coast early, gifting us with some amazing fishing and hunting opportunities. Not only did all the guys have some stories, but so did the callers. When the weather is right, times are good…and the stories are great!

Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: I know we don’t always think about cobia fishing this time of year… but it can be excellent. There are lots of cobia on the deep water offshore wrecks. The best method of fishing for them is deep jigging. You can use any heavy jig but the Alien Jig is one of the best! Available at Strike-Zone Fishing Jacksonville!

Here’s your @Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week:

Turkey Soup

Need:

Leftover Turkey

Sage

Olive oil

Garlic powder

Salt n Pepper

Celery

Carrots

Onions

1 container of Chicken/Turkey Broth

Take all the leftover Turkey including the carcass and cover with water. Turn on medium heat and bring to a slight boil. Add the broth. Cut/slice celery, carrots, and onions up and place in 2nd pot with approximately 4 tbs of olive oil and simmer on low heat till vegetables are cooked down. After Turkey has been boiled thoroughly reduce heat and save broth. Pick carcass and cut Turkey in small bite sized chunks returning to the broth. Add 1 tbs garlic powder, 3 tablespoons of sage and veggies to the broth. Let simmer for approximately 45 mins on low heat. Serve and enjoy!
