OS 1172: Kings, Catfish, Coal Ash & Capt. Kevin v2!

The gang was full-force in the studio this week (most likely because Tera baked a venison quiche for everybody in honor of Father’s Day), and they all had a bunch of fishing stories to tell.  With the Old School Kingfish Shootout in the rearview, and the Kingbuster coming up…from the bait to the wind to the sharks, there were plenty of things to talk about!

Michelle Caldwell-Smith and her daughter Grace checked in to share all the crazy details of their trip to Oklahoma…to noodle!  If you want to find out more about the “fun” of sticking your are in a hole and letting a huge catfish grab it, you can’t miss this!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t all fun and games.  Dr. Quenton White joined the show to talk about the latest development with the coal ash barge which struck the jetties off the Atlantic Beach coast two months ago.  It’s been discovered that over 9300 tons of coal ash has leaked from the barge and is now on the ocean floor.  Dr. White talks about the short-term and long-term ramifications of the pollution, as well as some potential ways to address it.

One final note, and this is an important one: you CANNOT MISS the end of the show, when the guys get a call from….CAPTAIN KEVIN FAVER!

Your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: Time to cast your vote for your favorite boat shoes!
