OS 1181: The Perfect Time To TALK Outdoors

It’s funny how conversations can drift from topic to topic, and it’s really funny when that happens with the Outdoors Show guys.  It all started with Tropical Storm/Hurricane Henri (or “Henry”, according to Jeff) and then quickly shifted into memories about the movie “Jaws”. Then onto breakfast sandwiches, venison bacon…and here we go on the weekly rollercoaster we call The Outdoors Show.

It’s a great time of year for the guys, because there’s so much to talk about in terms of both fishing and hunting.  So from in-shore and offshore fishing to gearing up for the hunting season, this show covers it.

Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week from Captain Kirk: The Luna Sea Cush-It Rod Butt Cushion.  It’s designed to grip and bend into the body so it will protect the angler from force produced from fighting tough fish. The bulbous end absorbs the shock, isolating the rod butt from the angler, and it’s tapered on the interior to fit and grip any size rod butt. It’s UV resistant, saltwater resistant, lightweight and comfortable. The Cush-It is the ultimate alternative to bulky fighting belts.

Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week: There are a lot of kinks on the local wrecks right now, but there are also a ton of big sharks. You have to get the fish to the boat as fast as possible. Set your drags a little tighter and don’t finesse the fish as you usually would. You might pull a few hooks but you up your odds by changing to these tactics!

Here’s your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week: Captain Kevin’s Wings for football season! In a decent size ramekin or small bowl start with a good amount of Teriyaki, then add Datil sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and soy sauce according to your taste. Make sure wings are cooked through and done. Then baste one side, cover for a few minutes then flip and baste other side.
