Outdoors Show Bios

Kevin Faver, a fourth generation Floridian, grew up in northeast Florida hunting and fishing his whole life. He received his USCG captain's license at the age of 18 and began to run charters during the summer time. Formerly a caddy on the PGA tour for Mike Nicolette, Kevin also worked on a crew boat in the Gulf of Mexico where he upgraded his USCG license to Master.

Kevin and his beautiful wife Carrie met while he was working in the Gulf, got married, and settled in St. Augustine, FL where they have 3 awesome children, Karley (13), Kayla (10), and Koltten (8). Kevin began running full-time charters in 1993 at Carrie's urging, and although the first year was quite a struggle things steadily improved. Kevin became the co-host of the radio show Florida Sportsman Live, where he trully excelled both behind the microphone and marketing the show.

He met Jeff Lageman in 1995 and in 1997 the duo started The Outdoors Show. That same year Captain Kirk Waltz joined them as the 3rd host, and since then the radio show has exceeded everyone's expectations and continues to grow. In 2002 Kevin started the Outdoors Show TV series which is now broadcast on local cable and nationally on The Sportsman Channel.

Jeff Lageman hails from Northern Virginia where he started fishing at the age of 6 and hunting at the age of 12. After high school he attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a degree in economics. He was a first round draft pick of the New York Jets in 1989, where he played until being signed as a free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995. After retiring from football in 1998, the popular lineman moved into a radio and television broadcast career staying in the Jacksonville area he came to love.

He is married to wife Misti and together they have a 5 year-old son Dylan Jeffrey. Jeff was very active in the NFL Players' Association and has always been focused on worthwhile charities and organizations. He has been honorary chairman of the Children's Miracle Network in Jacksonville since 1996, and is a board member on the Georgia Sheriff's Boys Home in Hahira, GA.

An avid outdoorsman, playing professional football allowed him to travel to many places and meet numerous people who are actively involved in the outdoors like himself. He has fished for just about everything that swims and hunted most critters that walk and fly. Jeff is now living the sportsman's dream with the Outdoors Show, his football broadcast career, and is one of Jacksonville's most popular voices.

Kirk Waltz was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, truly a southern town surrounded by water. At the ripe age of 8 years old his father took him on fishing trips in the backwaters of the Edisto, Ashley, and Cooper Rivers as well as the surrounding barrier islands next to Folly, Sullivans, and Isle of Palms beaches. Their trips to the Charleston jetties were most memorable -- his Dad would pull up to the big rocks and drop the boys off to walk the rocks and fish all day.

In the early 1970s he moved to Cocoa Beach to attend college, and fished the Indian and Banana rivers. Kirk met his wife, the lovely Kate Fee, in Cocoa and they enjoyed launching a canoe in their backyard to fish the canals or driving to Longpoint Park to fish Sebastian Inlet for reds, trout, or Spanish.

They moved to Jacksonville Beach in the early 80's and had two children Kyle and Lara, while Kirk spent considerable time fishing the waters of the St. Augustine and Mayport areas. In 1995 Kirk met Kevin Faver who was guiding and at his urging got his USCG captain's license. Initially Kirk was a field reporter and gave weekly reports on the Jax Beach area fishing conditions, then joined the Outdoors Show as cohost.

Captain Kirk also writes for several local magazines such as The Beaches Magazine, and has done several prominent TV shows including Whats your Opinion with Jim Clements, The Outdoors Show with Kevin Faver, and George Poveromo's World of Salt Water Fishing.
